AERODYNAMICS ENGINEER

Ares Industries is a defense technology startup aiming to be the weapons prime of the 21st century. We are focused on delivering cutting-edge missile systems and building the critical weapons that the U.S. and its allies need to prevent global conflict. Our team is a group of aerospace nerds and engineers who believe in the power of engineering to shape geopolitics. At Ares, you will work in a high-intensity, engineering-driven environment where rapid iteration, real-world testing, and mission impact take priority over bureaucracy.

Ares is seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer to lead the aerodynamic design and analysis of subsonic cruise missile systems. This role will focus on CFD modeling, aerodynamic shape optimization, and control surface integration to maximize range, stability, and maneuverability. The ideal candidate has expertise in missile aerodynamics, drag reduction, and flight performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

-- Conduct CFD simulations to analyze aerodynamic performance in subsonic and transonic flight.

-- Design missile fuselage shapes, control surfaces, and lifting structures for efficiency.

-- Develop aerodynamic databases for use in flight simulations and GNC algorithms.

-- Work closely with GNC and propulsion teams to optimize stability and maneuverability.

-- Support wind tunnel testing and flight validation for new airframe designs.

Qualifications:

-- 4+ years of experience in aerospace aerodynamics, UAV, or missile design.

-- Expertise in CFD analysis using ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or OpenFOAM.

-- Strong understanding of wave drag, boundary layer physics, and control effectiveness.

-- Familiarity with lift-to-drag optimization, trim analysis, and stability derivatives.

Preferred Experience:

-- Hands-on experience with wind tunnel testing and flow visualization techniques.

-- Prior work on cruise missile or UAV aerodynamics.

-- Experience with high-speed aerodynamics, flow separation, and drag reduction techniques.
