HEAD OF AVIONICS

Ares Industries is a defense technology startup aiming to be the weapons prime of the 21st century. We are focused on delivering cutting-edge missile systems and building the critical weapons that the U.S. and its allies need to prevent global conflict. Our team is a group of aerospace nerds and engineers who believe in the power of engineering to shape geopolitics. At Ares, you will work in a high-intensity, engineering-driven environment where rapid iteration, real-world testing, and mission impact take priority over bureaucracy.

Ares is seeking a Head of Avionics to lead the design, integration, and validation of avionics systems for our missile platforms. This role will focus on developing flight computers, sensor networks, power systems, GPS/INS integration, and real-time communications to support precision guidance and control. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in embedded aerospace hardware, data buses, and avionics system architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

-- Design and integrate flight computers, sensor suites, and avionics hardware for missile systems.

-- Develop and manage data buses (e.g., CAN, RS-422, Ethernet) and communication protocols for onboard systems.

-- Ensure avionics meet SWaP, EMI/EMC, thermal, and environmental requirements for harsh operating conditions.

-- Oversee hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, ensuring avionics systems function reliably in real-world scenarios.

-- Collaborate with flight software, guidance, and propulsion teams to optimize avionics integration.

Qualifications:

-- 10+ years of experience in avionics development, aerospace electronics, or embedded systems integration.

-- Expertise in designing flight computers, sensor networks, and high-speed communication interfaces.

-- Experience with ruggedized aerospace electronics, EMI/EMC compliance, and environmental testing.

-- Proficiency in avionics communication protocols (e.g., CAN, RS-422, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet).

Preferred Experience:

-- Experience developing avionics for missiles, UAVs, or other high-performance aerospace systems.

-- Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and validation.

-- Background in power systems, actuator control, and flight computer selection.
