TURBOMACHINERY ENGINEER
Ares Industries is a defense technology startup aiming to be the weapons prime of the 21st century. We are focused on delivering cutting-edge missile systems and building the critical weapons that the U.S. and its allies need to prevent global conflict. Our team is a group of aerospace nerds and engineers who believe in the power of engineering to shape geopolitics. At Ares, you will work in a high-intensity, engineering-driven environment where rapid iteration, real-world testing, and mission impact take priority over bureaucracy.
Ares is seeking a Turbomachinery Engineer to design, test, and optimize compressors, turbines, and rotating components for turbojet propulsion systems used in surface-launched cruise missiles. This role will focus on aerothermal efficiency, high-speed rotating machinery, and thermal durability to maximize engine performance and reliability. The ideal candidate has experience in gas turbine design, aerodynamics, and thermal analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
-- Design and analyze compressors, turbines, and high-speed rotating assemblies for optimal efficiency.
-- Perform aerothermal calculations to maximize thrust-to-weight ratio and performance.
-- Develop bearing systems, high-temperature materials, and vibration mitigation solutions.
-- Work with propulsion controls engineers to integrate throttle and ignition systems.
-- Support engine testing and environmental qualification for high-G flight conditions.
Qualifications:
-- 4+ years of experience in gas turbine design, jet engine development, or high-speed rotating machinery.
-- Strong background in compressor aerodynamics, turbine efficiency, and CFD analysis.
-- Experience with high-temperature alloys, coatings, and heat transfer modeling.
-- Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or NX.
Preferred Experience:
-- Experience with small jet engines, UAV propulsion, or DoD flight programs.
-- Hands-on experience with turbine testing, balancing, and transient performance modeling.
-- Background in air-breathing missile propulsion and environmental durability testing.
